Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A principal bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur on Friday quashed the merit list prepared by the state government for serving doctors for granting admission to postgraduate courses. Counseling for Masters courses for the session 2022-2023 is going on.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice RV Malimath and Justice Vishal Misra ordered the state government to quash the entire merit list and prepare a fresh merit list.

Advocate Siddhartha Gupta, who appeared on behalf of the petitioners, said, “After the commencement of the examination, the High Court has said that the amendment in the medical admission rules, which was brought midway, will come into force from the next year, not the current year. has been cancelled. The state government has been directed to redraw the entire merit list”.

The order was passed by the High Court while hearing a plea against 30 government doctors and medical officers compartment wise (medical wing) reservation of 30% on the grounds that they were working in district areas and hospitals.

Doctors had petitioned the High Court that they would be eligible for 30% reservation when NEET was conducted on May 25, 2022. After the results were declared, a provisional merit list was drawn in which their names were not included despite medical admission rules. made their admission conditional.

The doctors said they were eligible for 30% category-wise reservation but their names were not included in the provisional merit list, against which writ petitions were filed in the High Court.

The state government, when it revised the medical admission rules on July 26, 2022, excluded government doctors who worked in district hospitals of the state from the provisional merit list.
