We wouldn’t blame you for thinking about cost when you’re looking for a new place to retire since the economy is the way it is. Luckily, GOBankingRates has done the math and found the 15 best places to retire in on just $2,500 a month. They looked at things like housing, healthcare, and groceries prices.

Akron, Ohio is hot on the heels of Chicago. It’s not as warm and sunny as Florida, but the average monthly home payment is only $699. Additionally, the things you need every month should cost about $1,662, adding up to a total monthly cost of $2,361.

Even though it’s not the cheapest city on the list, Akron is the best place to live with an 81, making it the best city overall. The city has a population of 191,481 people and is a medium-sized one. It has a lot to offer, including the Tudor Revival country house Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, the Akron Art Museum, and is close to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Also, Cleveland, home of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Orchestra, and big league sports teams, is only 45 minutes away from Akron.

Jackson, Mississippi, is the least expensive place on the list, and the weather is much better there than in Akron in the winter. Here, the average monthly mortgage payment is $401, and the average monthly cost of living is $1,758. This means that the average monthly spending is $2,159. The bad thing is that it only has a usability score of 63. Still, Jackson has a lot to offer: it’s home to more than 30 museums that cover a wide range of subjects, from art to agriculture to flight.
