South Carolina and Georgia Experienced Earthquakes

On Thursday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported two earthquakes in South Carolina and Georgia.

According to the UGSG, the first earthquake struck Georgia shortly after 10 p.m. It was 2.0 in magnitude and 9 kilometers deep.

The earthquake occurred 9.1 miles south of Eatonton, Georgia, 32 miles northeast of Macon, Georgia, and 72.4 miles east of Atlanta, Georgia.

The second earthquake struck the South Carolina Midlands at about 11 p.m., according to the USGS. It was 1.8 magnitude and one kilometer deep.

This quake occurred 2.9 miles north of Jenkinsville, South Carolina, 18.1 miles east of Newberry, and 26.1 miles northwest of Columbia.
