Shah laid the foundation stone for the new GTU campusATN News

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone for the new campus of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) at Legawada in Gandhinagar on September 27. Currently, the university is functioning from a temporary campus in Chandkheda, Ahmedabad.

GTU Vice-Chancellor Prof Navin Sheth announced on Thursday that the proposed project will consist of 17 small buildings each comprising different departments of various engineering faculties and adjacent workshop and administrative blocks.

The state government has allocated 100 acres of land and sanctioned Rs 275 crore for construction of a new building. The new university project will include an 18,000 square meter auditorium and auditorium for solar lighting to save on electricity costs.

The university was started by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi in 2007, Sheth said in his official statement.
