In such cases, the court said, on pure humanitarian grounds, a provision is made in the rules to provide gainful employment to one of the dependents of the deceased who is eligible for such employment.
“The whole purpose of grant of compassionate employment is to help the family to tide over a sudden crisis. Such family should not be given a post less than the post held by the deceased,” the bench said.
Accepting an appeal filed by Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. and others against the high court order in March this year, the court said that such an appointment now would be against the object and purpose of the appointment on compassionate grounds. Will be given.
