The Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay, disclosed in a recently published interview that he experienced discrimination because of his color and fortune after being convicted for drunk driving in 2014.

The Colts and the Carmel Police Department have been contacted by CNN to provide comments.
According to a statement provided to the Indianapolis Star, Lt. DJ Schoeff of the Carmel Police expressed regret upon hearing the remark regarding their personnel and department.
The statement further stated that our organization is made up of professional officers that work hard to defend our community in a morally and professionally upright manner.
In Carmel, Indiana, on March 16, 2014, Irsay was taken into custody by the police and charged with both driving under the influence and having a controlled narcotic in his possession. The officers found prescribed medications in pill bottles during the arrest. It was discovered that there was no connection between these medications and any prescription bottles discovered within the car.
According to evidence presented in court, Irsay’s system contained both hydrocodone and oxycodone at the time of his detention.
The owner of the Colts had red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and very erratic balance, according to the probable cause affidavit. He struggled to recite the alphabet, failed multiple field sobriety tests, and told an officer he was having trouble finding his house.
Irsay missed the first six games of the Colts’ regular season due to a suspension from the NFL. In addition, they penalized him $500,000 for going against the league’s code of conduct.
Irsay made the decision to check himself into a rehabilitation center following his incarceration. He has already talked candidly about his struggle with addiction.
