The 77th session of the UNGA on Friday emphasized the need for urgent comprehensive reforms in the UN Security Council. About 34 countries including India have also issued a joint statement in this regard. This information has been given by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs through a tweet.

A high-level meeting of members of the L69 Group and other like-minded countries on revitalization and comprehensive reform of the United Nations Security Council was held in New York at the 77th session of the UNGA.

The ministry said that 34 countries, including India, have issued a joint statement calling for reforms in the UN Security Council. The joint statement said that urgent and comprehensive reforms are needed at the United Nations. It is emphasized that the Council should reflect the aspirations and visions of the developing world, which constitute the majority of the UN Charter.

Australia-India-Indonesia Trilateral Meeting
Here, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has informed about the Australia-India-Indonesia trilateral meeting through a tweet. He tweeted that the first Australia-India-Indonesia Trilateral event in New York today (Friday) was great. Our vision to move forward on maritime issues, maritime economy, digital and clean energy is clear. Our tripartite alliance will contribute to the Indo-Pacific by staying at the heart of ASEAN.

In addition, Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also attended the India-CARICOM Ministerial Meeting. He tweeted that the meeting discussed development partnership, cooperation in health, digital engagement and capacity building. India-Caricom South is the best example of solidarity.
