On Wednesday, Police said that two bodies were discovered inside a car, believed to be those of a missing Texas teen who was nine months pregnant and her boyfriend, who suffered gunshot wounds.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus told reporters earlier on Tuesday that officials suspect the bodies are those of Savannah Soto, 18, who was last seen on December 22, and her boyfriend, but he couldn’t confirm the identities.

According to the medical examiner’s office, one of the dead was later identified as 22-year-old Matthew Guerra. According to family members, Pereira was Soto’s lover.

Police informed CNN that they are still waiting for the female victim to be identified by medical examiners.

“The medical examiner’s office will conduct a death investigation to determine the cause of death,” police said in a statement on Wednesday. “This investigation remains ongoing.”

The case has been classified as “Capital Murder due to the death of an unborn child,” according to San Antonio Police Lt. Michelle Ramos, who spoke to CNN on Wednesday.

According to officials, the victims were discovered in a car parked outside an apartment complex.

The remains had been there for “possibly three or four days,” according to McManus, who described the crime scene as “very, very perplexing.”

According to the Leon Valley Police Department, Soto was pregnant and past her due date when she missed an important medical visit and her family reported her missing.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety alert, Soto was last seen Friday in the 6000 block of Grissom Road in Leon Valley. The vehicle mentioned in the advisory was a grey Kia Optima.

“Chief William McManus has issued a statement announcing they believe the body of missing Savannah Soto has been found,” according to a Leon Valley Police Department press release. The San Antonio Police Department “will be taking over the investigation as the crime scene is located within the City of San Antonio.”
