Jaipur: The election for the post of Congress President will be held on October 17. Ashok Gehlot wants to continue as the chief minister of Rajasthan even after winning the Congress presidency. He noted that he has the capacity to hold three positions simultaneously. He seems to have made the suggestion during a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. But other leaders of the party came against this. Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal stated that the principle of one position for one should be followed.

Congress party senior leader Digvijay Singh also reacted to the issue. He proposed to remain in only one post. Digvijay has stated that he will have to resign as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan if he is elected as the Congress party president. Moreover, Digvijay questions that the names of Kerala MP Shashi Tharoor and Ashok Gehlot are currently being discussed and why he is being excluded from the race. Diggiraja said that the last date for submission of nomination papers will be September 30.

On the other hand, Sachin Pilot wants to become the Chief Minister before Ashok Gehlot takes over as the Congress party president. But Gehlot is trying to prevent him from wanting to stay in two posts. Gehlot also wants the administration to give him a chance to present the budget for the 10th time. Noticing Gehlot’s move, Sachin Pilot is in constant contact with the Congress party leadership.

Rahul Gandhi wants Ashok Gehlot or Shashi Tharoor to become Congress President. If Rahul enters the field, both are preparing to say goodbye. But Rahul is not ready to take the post of president. Congress president election notification will be released on September 22. Nomination papers will be submitted till September 30. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is October 8.
