Florida’s “Fastest-Declining” City is Also Known as One of its “Happiest”: Reports

There is no denying that Florida’s population is growing.According to Census.gov, Florida’s population increased noticeably between 2021 and 2022, by 1.9%.

In Florida, certain cities are seeing an increase in population, while others are seeing a decrease.

One of the fastest-declining cities in the state of Florida was recently identified as being in central Florida. It has, nevertheless, previously been acknowledged as one of the happiest in the state.

According to a recent investigation by Finance BuzzSt. Petersburg, Florida, was designated as a failing city in late October of 2023. The study evaluated a number of variables, such as new building, growth over a three-year period, unemployment rates, home sales, income levels, and the quantity of unoccupied dwellings.

Florida is home to a number of quickly growing cities, such as Miami, Orlando, and Port St. Lucie. But there are also a good number of cities in the state that are seeing their rate of growth fall.

With a population decrease of -1.54%, St. Petersburg became Florida’s second most falling city, right behind Hialeah.

Home prices in St. Petersburg have risen by roughly 0.9% in the last 12 months, according to Zillow.

Prior to this, St. Petersburg was named Florida’s Happiest City. Outside Online published a list of the top 15 most contented areas to live in the US in October 2023. The magazine specifically looked for safe cities with lots of greenery and a diverse population.

St. Petersburg made the list and was praised for having access to beaches, being near sports teams, having seven art districts, and having a lot of museums.
