Florida SNAP Benefits: Which recipients will receive their January 2024 payment this week?

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), originally the Food Stamp Program, is the largest anti-hunger program in the country.

This program provides nutritional support to low-income seniors, disabled adults who live on fixed incomes, and other low-income individuals and families.

The Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency (ESS) of the Florida Department of Children and Families oversees the administration of SNAP payments, a federal program. ESS is in charge of determining SNAP eligibility in accordance with federal regulations.

Who is eligible to receive SNAP in Florida?

To be eligible for this benefit program, you have to be a resident of Florida and meet one of the requirements listed below:

  • Have a current balance in your bank accounts (the sum of your checking and savings accounts) of less than $2,001, or
  • Have a current balance in your bank accounts (the sum of your checking and savings accounts) below $3,001, and share your household with one of the following:
  • A person age 60 or older; or
  • A person with a disability (child, spouse, parent, or yourself).

Who will receive their SNAP payment in Florida this week?
