China’s former justice minister sentenced to death for corruption ATN News

Puber pen, webdesk: Former Chinese Justice Minister Fu Zhenghua has been sentenced to death. He was accused of taking bribes and misusing the law for personal gain. The 67-year-old man was employed in various important positions in the Chinese government.

Justice Minister Fu Zhenghua was himself involved in a high-profile corruption investigation. A court in the city of Changchun in the northeastern province of Jilin said Fu committed corruption by exploiting his position and influence.

The court sentenced the former minister Fu Zhenghua on charges of accepting bribes of 1.6 million dollars. However, his sentence can be commuted after two years of imprisonment if everything is satisfactory.

Fu Zhenghua served as the country’s Minister of Justice from March 2018 to April 2020. However, the complaint against him is that between 2005 and 2021, he illegally accepted bribes of about 16.76 million dollars by abusing his power for personal gain. The court also stripped Fu of all political rights and ordered the confiscation of personal property.
